Trading is available every weekday (except for market holidays) between 6:30 am - 1:00 pm PT. You will not be able to place trades on Frec’s platform outside this time frame.
Notional Order
A notional trade order is when you purchase stock by a dollar amount instead of a quantity of shares. You can place a notional trade by going to the “Trade” tab, clicking “Shares” to change it to “Dollars.” You can then type in the dollar amount of securities you would like to purchase.
Keep in mind you are not able to buy less than $5.00 of a fractional share of securities. Additionally, not all securities available to trade on Frec’s platform can be traded in fractional shares. You will be unable to select “Dollars” for symbols that are not available for fractional trading.
Fractional Order
You can place fractional trade orders for most of the stock tradeable on our platform. You can place fractional trade orders by going to the “Trade” tab and entering a decimal before a number (for example: .5 shares) for Shares or you may enter a fractional order by placing a notional trade. If a stock cannot be traded in fractional shares, you will be unable to enter a fractional amount. Keep in mind that fractional shares are generally not transferable to other brokerage firms.
Whole Share Order
Whole share orders can be placed by clicking the “Trade” tab and entering a whole number for “Shares.” All securities on our platform can be traded in whole shares.
Canceling a Pending Order
You can find all of your recently placed trades in the “Activity” tab. Most market orders are executed immediately when the market is open. However, Limit Orders may take time to execute based on the price the Limit Order is set. You can find any pending trade orders at the top of the “Activity” tab. Click on the pending order and you can cancel it by clicking the red “Cancel Order.”
Your pending order may execute prior to you completing the cancellation. If your cancellation is completed successfully you will see a bubble with red text that reads “Canceled” immediately below the order. If the order is completed it will not have the red letter text and when you click it, you will see “Completed.”
