Opening a Frec accountWho can open a Frec account?
Before opening a Frec account, please make sure you meet the following requirements:
You must be 18 years or older. We're not able to open accounts for minors and we don't currently offer custodial accounts for minors
You must be a legal U.S. resident, currently living in the U.S. This includes:
- U.S. citizens
- Green Card holders / Permanent Residents
- Holders of an eligible, non-expired visa (E1, E2, E3, F1, G4, H1B, L1, O1, TN1)
Currently, we are not able to open accounts for people living outside the U.S., including U.S. citizens residing abroad.
You will need a U.S. Social Security Number. We use this to verify your identity and meet our tax reporting obligations.
Other things that can affect eligibility:
- If you're affiliated with a broker-dealer or exchange, or you're a senior officer, director, or 10%+ owner of a publicly traded company, we will need additional paperwork before we can open your account.
- We can only open one account per person.
- Any territory-specific notes (Puerto Rico, Guam, USVI) if applicable.

What information do I need to open a Frec account?
As a broker-dealer, we are required to verify your identity and meet KYC/tax regulations before opening your account. Please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Full name
- U.S. residential address (or military address)
- Date of birth
- Social Security Number
- Citizenship status
- Employment information
- Financial objectives
- Other financial information
